Rumor has it that Diskeeper Corporation has a new version of their defragmentation app for Windows Home Server and it's a matter of time before it's due out. Diskeeper's defrag technology has been relied upon by thousands of enterprises, government agencies, independent software vendors (ISVs), original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and home offices worldwide. The latest installment of its disk defragmentation application is designed to give speed and efficiency for file access to and from a home server.

I have stressed the importance of SAN storage defrag a number of times in the past couple of weeks for the simple reason that it is more important than IT managers and enterprises realize. SAN defrag is imperative to the performance of network and computer systems and if not maintained properly can seriously affect the well-being of the company's resources.

Last week, I discussed the importance of optimizing backups for your computer or network systems using defrag software. There's no question that in the case of an enterprise, the preservation of utilizing backup optimization is imperative for a business's success. Maintaining your system using defrag technology is the only way to ensure your backups are protected and running smoothly.

In the constant effort to maintain and optimize computer and network performance, IT managers and enterprises as a whole often overlook one of the most important factors in keeping their systems free of fragmentation: SAN defrag.

Diskeeper Corporation has announced the receipt of the Certificate of Networthiness (CoN) from the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command for its Diskeeper 2010 performance defrag software.

Diskeeper is one company focused on improving operations within the enterprise and has developed a product specifically focused on the importance of defrag in the virtual environment. In a recent interview, Jeremy Buck, Spokesperson for Diskeeper Corporation talks about how V-locity 2.0 Virtual Platform Disk Optimizer will maximize I/O performance on virtual servers.

Defragging computers, networks and servers is important no matter what approach you take. If you are running an SMB with a small number of computers running on your network, manual defrag is an inexpensive and effective way to keep your system running properly. However, for larger networks run by enterprises, manual defrag just won't cut it. Deploying automatic defrag software is the only option for enterprises who are responsible for providing larger amounts of data at a faster pace.
